How to Save Money on Mother’s Day Gifts

Mother’s Day is coming up and you’re probably wondering how you are going to give your mother the perfect gift when you’re living check to check, or saving for an event, or whatever the case may be.  Don’t worry, it can be done.  Here are some ideas that will help you get the perfect gift for your mom, the mother of your children, or that special woman in your life:

Search for Bargains

There is always a deal out there somewhere.  All you have to do is search for it.  Search on coupon and discount websites like Couponwind.com and www.groupon.com before spending money on an event. Websites like Groupon often offer substantial discounts on dinner, movies, and special events like pottery making and wine tasting.  Treat your mom to something unique while saving money at the same time.

Cheaper version:  Make dinner for her!  Print off coupons for the food items you will need and make an intimate dinner at home.  It won’t matter if the meal is good or not – it truly is the thought that counts in instances like this.  She will appreciate the time and effort you put into making her day special.

Think Outside the Box

If the special lady in your life likes to receive cards but the cost is prohibitive to you, send her an ecard instead.  There are many ecard websites that will allow you to send a lot cost or even no cost card.  You can even add a personal message to these cards.  This will not only save you on the cost of the car, but also on postage.

If she likes certain song but the cost of the CD is more than you can spend, download the track. Typically, a single song will cost you less than $1.50.

Cheaper versions:  Make her a card instead!  Just fold a piece of paper and write a special sentiment inside.  If you are feeling creative, sketch a rose or a heart or stick figures representing the two of you.  She’ll love whatever you do.

Serenade her!  Learn the words to the song (you can find the lyrics to pretty much any song on the Internet nowadays) and sing to her when she least expects it.  This will make a huge impact.

Give Her Something She Can Feel

She might really like a painting or a sculpture that she saw in the store, but if your finances are not right, there is still a way to give her something she will cherish forever.  Search the discount stores that often carry similar items and buy it there (don’t forget to check for coupons before you go!).

Cheaper version:  Make it yourself!  You may not be able to make an exact replica of the item, but if you make something that you create based upon her personality and the things she likes, she will love it forever.

You don’t have to break the bank to give your mother a special gift.  Giving from the heart will always mean more than any store bought item ever could.
